Georgios Drosopoulos
Senior lecturer
Civil Engineering
University of Kwazulu-Natal
South Africa
Biography
After completion of a post-doctoral research program in Leibniz University of Hannover and Technical University of Crete, Dr Drosopoulos was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering at UKZN in 2016. He has published several articles in international journals, book chapters and conferences proceedings. He also serves as a reviewer in various scientific journals. Dr Drosopoulos has supervised several undergraduate and post-graduate students. His research focuses on structural engineering and computational mechanics: contact mechanics, non-linear finite element analysis of masonry structures, multi-scale homogenization for the investigation of the microscopic level of composite materials, auxetic materials and homogenization, non-linear finite element analysis for steel structures under normal and elevated temperatures, etc.
