Biography

Dr Panjasaram (Vassie) Naidoo is a senior lecturer in the Discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UKZN. She also lectures primary health care nurses in pharmacology. She currently serves on the South African Pharmacy Council (Statutory Body for pharmacists in SA) and the Scheduling and Naming Committee of the Medicines Control Council of SA. She is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA) and the responsible pharmacist and owner of DKN Pharmacy. She is a member of many professional bodies and organisations such as the International AIDS Society, HIV Clinicians Society, Society of Clinical Pharmacy, Community and Academic sector of the PSSA and the International Federation of Pharmacists ( FIP). She also serves on many Committees of the SAPC and is the current chairman of the CPD Committee. She serves on the Human and Social Science Research Ethics Committee (HSSREC) of UKZN. Dr Naidoo has represented the pharmacy profession in giving input to the SA Parliament, NDOH, PDOH, and the local health structures of KZN including many medical aid associations. Her research interests: Schistosomiasis, HIV/AIDS, NHI . She supervises Masters and PhD students in these areas and has publications in many SAPSE /ISI rated journals. Dr Naidoo is involved in community work both formally and informally.
