Biography
Mr Carias Chokuda is a permanent full-time lecturer in the Department of Mercantile Law. He holds an LLB degree from the University of Zimbabwe and an EMBA degree from Africa University, Zimbabwe. He also holds an LLM degree in Commercial Law (with distinction) from the University of Cape Town. He is an admitted attorney, conveyancer and notary public of the High Court of Zimbabwe. Carias was admitted as an attorney, conveyancer and notary public of the High Court of Zimbabwe in 1995. Since then he has held different positions including practicing as an attorney and in-house legal advisor for a commercial bank in Zimbabwe. He also worked as a credit analyst for a community development financial institution in Ithaca, New York. In January 2009 Carias was appointed as a full-time lecturer in the Department of Commercial Law at the University of Cape Town, a position he held until December 2012. In January 2013 he joined the Mercantile Law Department at the University of Pretoria as a full-time lecturer.
