Mayuri Pillay

Biography

Mayuri Pillay is an Admitted Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. She obtained the degrees LLB in 2013 from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, LLM in 2015 from the University of Pretoria, and is currently busy with her LLD degree which will be completed in 2018. Mayuri Pillay held various consulting and part-time positions and was involved with various projects while in the process of completing her LLM in the Law of Contract. She was appointed as Tax Advisor at Deloitte and Touche in January 2014. In September 2014 she joined the team at Andrologix-Alstom-Eskom as Legal Manager. In this capacity she managed all the legal aspects for the Medupi and Kusile Power Station projects. Contracts valued over ZAR200 million. In February 2016 she joined Exigent as Legal Immigration Advisor. She played a key role in establishing the Company’s Immigration Services. She was appointed as Legal Advisor at iFirm in July 2016. She was extensively involved in providing Legal advice on Contracts Management, the drafting of Legal proposals with regards to contractual disputes as well as formulating regulatory compliance frameworks and policies. Mayuri Pillay joined Metric Industrial Supplies CC in April 2015 in the capacity of Legal Advisor and formed part of the Company’s Legal Counsel. She offered her professional expertise in the drafting and vetting of Construction Contracts which included FIDIC, JBCC, and NEC. She played a fundamental role in the development and implementation of Legal policies, processes, procedures. She also offered professional Legal support to the Company’s Business Units. Currently Mayuri Pillay fills the role of NGAP Lecturer at the University of Pretoria where she lectures Master students on the interpretation and drafting of contracts, and also examines and reviews these students on Contract Law, and lectures Undergraduate Students on Contract Law (2nd year). Mayuri Pillay continuously demonstrates an in-depth understanding of commercial Legal requirements and how to apply that knowledge to various industries.
