Biography
Prof Landman has been working as a Meteorologist for about three decades. He was a Chief Scientist at the South African Weather Service and a Chief Researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research before he was appointed as Professor in Meteorology at the University of Pretoria. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Meteorology and supervises MSc and PhD students on weather and climate modelling issues. He focusses on the development and testing of prediction systems for subseasonal-to-seasonal and seasonal-to-interannual time scales and has a B2-rating from the National Research Foundation of South Africa who has recognised him as the most accomplished South African researcher in seasonal climate forecasting. He is an Adjunct Research Scientist at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society, which is part of the Earth Institute of Columbia University in New York, USA.
