Biography
Professor Scurrell is Research Professor in the Department of Civil and Chemical Engineering, College of Science, Engineering and Technology (CSET), University of South Africa (UNISA), and Emeritus Professor of Chemistry, University of the Witwatersrand. He has researched in the area of catalysis and surface chemistry for over 40 years and has published extensively in this field. He has formerly held positions at the University of Edinburgh, the Technical University of Denmark, The CSIR (Pretoria) and Anglo American Research Laboratories. His main interests are in catalysis for environmental protection and energy conversion, two areas which are naturally aligned in large scale energy production.
Research Interest
Solid catalysts, surface chemistry, surface spectroscopy
