Biography
Prof Lovell Fernandez is a Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice. He has taught the undergraduate courses in criminal law, criminal procedure, comparative criminal justice, and the LLM module in transitional justice. His criminal justice publications are on policing, the law relating to torture, the prosecution service, criminal legal aid, and the transformation of the criminal justice institutions.
Research Interest
Transitional justice have focused on the issue of post-TRC prosecutions and the question of reparations. At present, he is the UWC director of the LLM programme on Transnational Criminal Justice and Crime Prevention, which is part of the German-South African Centre for Development Research and Criminal Justice.
