Biography
Demetra Mavri Damelin is currently working as Associate Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology at University of Witwatersrand. Academic Thrust: Genetics and Developmental Biology Research Interests: Cancer chemotherapy and gene regulation
Research Interest
She carry out various aspects of cancer research using a wide range of molecular and cell biology techniques, and combine the fields of genetics, epigenetics, molecular and cell biology. Current research projects include investigating chemoresistance mechanisms and identifying new drug treatments for oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma; genetic markers of drug resistance in the South African population; and the regulation of genes that are involved in and may serve markers of cancer progression, relative to cell proliferation, metabolism an metastasis.
