Biography
"Francesca Parrini is an associate professor of School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences at Wits University, Johannesburg, South Africa. Her main research interest lies in the ecology and behaviour of mammalian herbivores, their interaction with vegetation and with each other by integrating factors governing decisions at the small scale (plant, feeding patch) and factors governing decisions at the landscape level. The ultimate goal of his research is to use remote sensing to provide the link between small scale and large scale ecological questions in order to answer theoretical questions such as habitat selection in heterogeneous environments; spatial distribution of herbivores in relation to resource and climatic variables; the effect of resources distribution and activity behaviour on group dynamics. She is also striving to use behaviour and ecology related questions to answer conservation issues, in an attempt to contribute to bridge the gap between behavioural ecology and conservation science. Her Broad interests: Behavioural and conservation ecology, large mammals, foraging ecology, spatial ecology, network analysis."
Research Interest
She has broad interest in Behavioural and conservation ecology, large mammals, foraging ecology, spatial ecology, network analysis.
