Biography
Prof Luke Chimuka is currently working as a professor of Chemistry at University of the witswatersrand. He focuses on novel development and applications of modern sample preparation techniques such as those based on combination of membrane assisted solvent extraction and smart polymers (molecularly imprinted polymers), passive samplers for both metal ions and organic compounds, pressurised hotwater exraction (PHWE) and other liquid phase microextraction techniques. Another interest is PHWE of indigenous plant leaves so as to understand the nutritional and essential compounds in them. He is a part of the Environmental Analytical Chemistry research group within the School of Chemistry.
Research Interest
His expertise areas are Biological polymers, Analytical chemistry
