Biography
Wayne Twine is an associate professor of School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences at Wits University, Johannesburg, South Africa. His research interest is in socio-ecological systems, especially within the context of natural resource use and sustainable rural livelihoods in African savannas. He manages the SUNRAE research programme for the School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand where the aim of this programme is to generate knowledge, human resources and community support for sustainable use of natural resources in poor rural communities, to the benefit of the environment and the people.

His research areas are Ethnoecology, Savanna Ecology and Community Based Natural Resource Management
