Biography
Born in Oviedo (Asturias), 8 May 1955. Graduated as a Civil Engineer from the Escuela Superior de ICCP de Barcelona [Barcelona School of Engineering]. Professional experience: Since 1984, Mr. Marcelino Fernández Verdes has held several positions at the organisation that was later to become Dragados. In 1994, he was appointed Managing Director, becoming Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 2000, which he continued to be after the merger with Dragados in 2003. In 2006, he also took on the role of Chief Executive for the Environment and Concessions, after which he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACS Servicios y Concesiones S.A. He has been a member of the Executive Committee of Grupo ACS since 2000. In April 2012, Mr. Marcelino Fernández Verdes was appointed a member of the Executive Committee of Hochtief AG and became Chairman of the said Committee in November of the same year, a role he still holds today. In March 2014, Mr. Marcelino Fernández Verdes was appointed Managing Director of Leighton (now CIMIC) and thereafter, in June of the same year became the Chief Executive Officer of the said company, which he still is today.
