Biography
Medical Specialist MIR in Clinical Microbiology and Doctor of Medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), is head of the Experimental Tuberculosis Unit of the Germans Trias i Pujol Institute (IGTP) and Associate Professor of the Department of Genetics and Microbiology at the UAB since 2001. After training at the Colorado State University (1995-96), he is devoting himself to the study of tuberculosis in his most immunopathological aspect through "in vitro" experimental models, "in vivo" and "in silico", and using fabrics of human origin.He has been the Scientific and Medical Director of Archivel Farma during the Phase I and Phase II trials. Reviewer of several international specialized magazines, is Editor of the book "Understanding Tuberculosis"; author of 5 book chapters and 90 articles reviewed by experts (index h = 24). He is also the Academic Editor of PLOS One magazine since 2009. He is the author of 7 invention patents, 4 of which refer to the RUTI® vaccine , the first therapeutic vaccine against latent tuberculosis.
