Biography
Doctor in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Guayaquil, Ecuador (1976). After his degree he worked for a year as a Rural Physician in Ecuador. He began his training at the Barraquer Institute in Barcelona in March 1977 and ended in September 1981. From October 1981 to March 1989 served as an ophthalmologist-surgeon at the Hospital Teodoro Maldonado (Guayaquil). Since April 1989 until now, he joined the Vitreous and Retina Department of the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre and worked in the Unit of Medical Retina specialising in ocular ultrasound. In 1994 he made a stay at the Department of Ocular Ultrasonography of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (USA), to delve into this area. He is a member of the Catalan Society of Ophthalmology. He has participated in several courses and congresses of the specialty.
