Biography
Amaia de Ayala holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with first class honours in 2008 (she received the extraordinary B.A. award), a Master’s degree in Economic Analysis in 2009 and a Ph.D. in Economics (Environmental Economics) in March 2014 also with first class honours (she received the extraordinary PhD thesis award in social sciences) from the University of the Basque Country. Her thesis is focused on the economic valuation of landscapes using the discrete choice experiment methodology. She held the position of visiting fellow at the Department for Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning (Chair of Landscape Economics, Technische Universität Berlin) from April 1 to July 3, 2013. She has worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduate students at the University of the Basque Country (subjects: Macroeconomic Theory, Econometrics and Statistics and Data Analysis) and during her last year as an undergraduate student she got the collaboration scholarship from the Basque Government. Her research field concerns environmental economic valuation for policy-guidance, consumer behavior, applied econometrics, health economics and energy economics.
