Biography
Marcelo Guerin is an Ikerbasque Research Professor who is currently the Head of the Structural Glycobiology Group at the Unit of Biophysics (2009-present). His interest in glycobiology began as an undergraduate student, while working with Prof. Alberto C. Frasch in the Leloir Institute at Buenos Aires, Argentina (1991-1996). Marcelo obtained a Pharm. D. in the School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina (1997). He then completed a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology with Prof. Armando J. Parodi, at the Leloir Institute (1997-2002). He moved as a post-doctoral fellow to Prof. Pedro M. Alzari’s laboratory, Structural Biochemistry Unit at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France (2003-2007). He continued his work as a Research Scientist in the Mycobacteria Research Laboratories, Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Pathology at Colorado State University, USA (2008-2009).
