D. AndrÉs GarzÓn Ruiz

Professor
Department of Physical Chemistry.
Castilla La Mancha University
Spain

Biography

He was born in Jaén in 1981. He holds a degree in Chemistry from the University of Jaén (Faculty of Experimental Sciences - 2003) and Doctor of Chemistry from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Faculty of Chemical Sciences of Ciudad Real - 2007). His doctoral thesis was on the "Atmospheric reactivity of alcohols, thiols and fluoroalcohols with atomic chlorine". Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Jaén from 2008 to 2010, where he worked on the design of new materials for use in molecular electronics and taught at the Faculty of Experimental Sciences. He has also held several research stays at the University of Durham (UK), the University of Granada and the University of Barcelona. Since 2010 he is a professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Albacete (now a contractor doctor) and teaches in the Department of Physical Chemistry. His current lines of research focus mainly on the study of interactions of macromolecules of biological interest with various ligands by spectroscopic techniques and in the design of fluorescent time-of-life sensors.
