Biography
Dr. José Miguel Urra Ardanaz is the Faculty of Immunology at the General University Hospital of Ciudad Real. He is responsible for the area of ​​immunology within the Clinical Analysis service. He received his bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Navarra in 1985. During the academic years 1986-87 and 1987-88 he was the titular professor of the subjects of Clinical Biochemistry and Human Physiology at the University School of Nursing of the Government of Navarre dependent on the Zaragoza's University. During the period 1988-1992, he underwent training as a specialist in Immunology at the Central University Hospital of Asturias. In 1992 he started the Immunology Unit of the Ciudad Real Hospital Complex, which currently has areas of immunochemistry, flow cytometry, autoimmunity, histocompatibility and allergy. In May 1995 he was responsible for the design and coordination of the program for the performance of histocompatibility studies for non-related bone marrow donors in Castilla La Mancha. The program is currently active with more than 3,000 donors studied in the community.
Research Interest
His main lines of research focus on studies of genetic susceptibility to autoimmune diseases, the definition of biological markers for activation of immunological pathology, and recently on immunological mechanisms that mediate desensitization in allergic diseases.
