Biography

Miguel Ángel Alañón Fernández has a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Granada (1995). He was trained as a specialist in Otorhinolaryngology at Hospital Clínico de Granada (2001). Doctor of Medicine, University of Granada (2003) with his thesis entitled: Evolutionary and pathophysiological study of olfaction in the human species, with the qualification of Outstanding Cum Laude "EXTRAORDINARY PRIZE". Director of doctoral thesis "Comparison in different surgical techniques for the treatment of nasolacrimal obstruction". Inventor of New Surgical Technique: International Patent: Methot of Intracanalicular Laser Dacryocystorhinostomy, Patent US Patent No. 20070005120 A1. Belonging to the research group of the University of Granada "Pharmacological affectation of the cochleovestibular auditory pathway and study of regeneration of the efferent cochlea innervation". Honorary collaborator in the doctoral program "Scientific bases of the investigation in medicine of the University of Cordova (2007-2009). Optional specialist in the area of ​​Otorhinolaryngology General University Hospital of Ciudad Real since 2008. Resident tutor of the ENT service of the HGUCR until 2015 and coordinator of research and teaching work of the ENT service of HGUCR. Head of ORL service in opposition to HGUCR since April 2015. Reviewer of the journal "Acta Otorrinolaringología Española" since 2009. Published more than 70 scientific articles in national and international journals, 2 chapters in papers and author of a book. 1 international award for best medical illustration and 6 national awards. More than 200 communications to congresses concerning the specialty. He is Associate Professor (coordinator) of Otorhinolaryngology of the Faculty of Medicine of Ciudad Real since 2013.
