Biography
Dr. Nuria Fernández Martínez holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid and a specialist in Geriatrics via MIR from the University Hospital of Getafe in Madrid. Shortly after obtaining the specialization, she arrived at the former Hospital Complex of Ciudad Real, performing her work in the emergency department for a year, since there were no geriatricians at the Hospital. Later on, she began her own specialty work in beds of the Internal Medicine service, becoming the first geriatrician in charge of a public hospital in the province of Ciudad Real. With the creation of the General Hospital of Ciudad Real, the very young Geriatrics service emerges, with increasing attention to acute elderly people, consultations and orthogeriatrics. He is a member of the board of directors of the Spanish Society of Geriatric Medicine (SEMEG) and of the Castellano-Manchega Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology (SCMGG), having participated in organizing and holding several regional and national congresses.
