Biography
PhD in philosophy from the Complutense University in 1990, with the doctoral thesis "Transcendental Phenomenology and Ontology" conducted under the direction of Miguel García-Baró. Predoctoral Fellow in Training of Research Staff and postdoctoral fellow of the Oriol-Urquijo Foundation and the Caja Madrid Foundation. Authorized researcher of the Husserl Archive of Cologne. In 1999 he won a position as a senior scientist at the Institute of Philosophy of the CSIC. He has been a member of the research projects "Philosophy after the Holocaust", "Philosophical foundations of the idea of ​​solidarity" and "The School of Madrid and the search for a first philosophy at the height of time". He is currently the principal investigator of the research project "Phenomenology of the body and pain analysis". He has taught at Univ. Complutense and Comillas, at the Xavier Zubiri Foundation and at the "School of Philosophy" of Madrid, whose Foundation is patron. President of the Spanish Society of Phenomenology between 2006-12, he is a member of the executive committee of the Organization of Phenomenological Organizations. He also chaired the Organizing Committee of the IV World Congress of Phenomenology, held in Segovia in 2011. He has been a visiting professor at Univ. Michoacana of "San Nicolás de Hidalgo" (Mexico), at the Catholic Church of Santa Fe (Argentina) and at the Universities of Los Andes and de la Frontera (Chile), and has directed (2000-16) a collection of philosophy in the Encuentro publishing house (43 titles). His work focuses on transcendental phenomenology, with a special interest in the analysis of corporality, and in the philosophy of 20th-century history, with special interest in the work of Hannah Arendt.
