Biography
Delfina Serrano is a Senior Scientist at the Institute of Languages ​​and Cultures of the Mediterranean and Near East of the CSIC. His specialty is Arabic and Islamic studies. He completed a two-year post-doctoral stay in the Department of Oriental Studies of the University of Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) and a six-month research stay at the Zayed University in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). His research work focuses on the study of several interrelated subjects: Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) according to the Maliki school, the diffusion and adoption of rational theology (ash`arí school) in the Islamic West, the relationship between jurisprudence, theology and Sufism, the contribution of these religious sciences to the development of the intellectual history of the pre-modern Islamic West and the contemporary validity of classical Islamic normative discourse.
