José Antonio Zamora Zaragoza

Biography

José A. Zamora was born in Murcia on October 6, 1956. He graduated in Philosophy and CC of Education (specialty Philosophy) at the University of Granada (link is external) . He was Professor of Secondary Education in the IES "Francisco Salzillo" of Alcantarilla (Murcia) and in IES "Diego Tortosa" of Cieza (Murcia). Subsequently he did research stays and doctorate studies at the Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universtät in Münster (link is external) (Germany), where he obtained his doctorate in 1995 with a thesis on the thought of Th. W. Adorno (link is external) directed by Prof. Johann Baptist Metz (link is external). He has been Professor in charge of the Chair of Ethics, Modern and Contemporary Philosophy and Philosophy of Religion at the San Fulgencio Studies Center of Murcia, affiliated with the Pontifical University of Salamanca (link is external) (1995-2003), Associate Professor of Theory of Education at the University of Murcia (link is external) (2002-2003) and Researcher Hired I3P at the Institute of Philosophy of the CSIC in Madrid (2003-2005). Since July 2005 he has been a Full Scientist at the Philosophy Institute of the CCHS / CSIC, Madrid. He has been visiting professor at different Iberoamerican Universities ( Central American University "José Simeón Cañas" of San Salvador (link is external) , Catholic University of Goiás (link is external) and Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos - UNISINOS (link is external) , and carried out several stays of postdoctoral research in German universities (Münster and Berlin) His most important lines of work and research are: Philosophy after Auschwitz, Critical Theory (Th.W. Adorno, W. Benjamin), Political theologies of modernity and Political Philosophy of migrations.
