Biography
For 15 years he has devoted his professional and scientific activity to the study of past communities through archeobotanical remains documented both in archaeological sites and in natural deposits (peat bogs and lakes). In particular, he focuses his research on the study of the remains of pollen, spores and non-pollen microfossils with the aim of evaluating the composition and evolution of the plant landscape, the climatic conditions of the past as well as the incidence of human activities on the plant environment , in various regions of the Iberian Peninsula. He has developed novel analytics such as the study of non-pollinic microfossils, the microcarbon particle count, Magnetic Susceptibility Analysis (MS) and organic matter content in the sediments (LOI), as well as paleoclimatic reconstructions from modern analogues. Doctor by the University of the Basque Country, he has been a Predoctoral Researcher of the Basque Government between 2001 and 2005. Between 2008-2012 he was a Contracted Researcher assigned to the Archaeobiology Research Group of the Center for Human and Social Sciences of the CSIC. Between 2013-2015 he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher funded by the Program of Improvement of Research Staff Doctor of the Basque Government, performing his work at the Université Jean Jaures II of Toulouse (France). Currently, he is working as a Contracted Doctor at the CSIC in Madrid, within the framework of the Juan de la Cierva Program. To date he has collaborated in more than 20 research projects, both nationally and internationally, has participated in more than 70 publications in scientific journals and books and has taught numerous courses and conferences.
