Biography
Dr. Bernd Kuebler made his Master of Science in Technical Biology at the University of Stuttgart, Germany, obtaining his degree in 1995. From 1995 to 1999 he did his PhD in the laboratory of Prof. K. von Figura at the Department of Biochemistry II, University of Göttingen, Germany. Aim of his work was the purification, identification and characterization of proteases of Insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs) from human serum. From 1999-2006 he worked as a Postdoc in Prof. T. Braulkes Lab at the Biochemistry Department of Children´s Hospital Hamburg Eppendorf, Germany, where he continued his studies in several projects concerning the IGF system. During this time he was temporarily working as a guest scientist at the Strangeways Research Laboratory, Cambridge, United Kingdom, at the Institute of Molecular Pathology, Copenhagen, Denmark, the Lower Saxony Institute for Peptide Research (IPF), Hannover, Germany, and the Institute of Biomedicine, University of Helsinki, Finland. From 2007-2010 he worked in Prof. S. Aznar Benitahs Lab at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), Barcelona, studying transcriptional regulation of c-myc by interaction with histone modifiers in human keratinocytes and other cell lines. In February 2011 he joined the CMRB, where he is working on the generation and characterization of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS).
