Biography
Concepción González-Bello has obtained her PhD at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC, Spain) in 1994. She did two predoctoral stays in the University of Gent (Belgium, 1991) with Prof. M. Vandewalle and in the Scripps Research Institute (USA, 1992) with Prof. K. C. Nicolaou. After three years postdoctoral stay in the University of Cambridge (UK, 1994-) with Prof. C. Abell, she joined USC as an Assistant Professor (1996), was promoted to Associate Professor in 2003 and obtained the Spanish habilitation to full Professor in 2011. Since 2010, she is one of the group leaders of the Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CIQUS) of the USC (www.gonzalezbello.com). She has published more than 70 papers in high quality peer-reviewed scientific journals, she is author of several chapters in diverse books and she has three european patents. She has directed nine Doctoral Thesis and is supervising another five. She is a member of the ChemMedChem International Advisory Board and an academic editor of PLOS ONE. Dr. González Bello has delivered several invited conferences at several international meetings and universities and has been the President of the organizing committee of the 7th Era-Chemistry Flash Conference on Bioinspired Chemistry (2010). She has been member of the Organizing committee of the V Spanish-Italian Symposium of Organic Chemistry (2004), of the XXX Bienal Meeting of Chemistry of the RSEQ (S2005), of the IV Iberian Carbohydrate Meeting (2008), Prospects in Chemical Sciences (2009), I Biennial Meeting of the Chemical Biology Group of the RSEQ (2012), 3rd, 4th and 5ft Medicinal Chemistry & Computer Aided Drug Designing (San Francisco, 2014; Atlanta 2015; Phoenix 2016). She has been Member of the panel of experts of the MICINN for the evaluation of research projects (CTQ/BQU) in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. Since 2011 is the treasurer of the Chemical Biology Group of the RSEQ.
