Biography
Graduated in Medicine from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1983). Doctor of Medicine from the University of Navarra (1994). Specialist in Internal Medicine (1990). Director of the Hepatology Unit of the Internal Medicine Department of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. Research Areas Senior Researcher at the Center for Biomedical Research in the Network of Liver and Digestive Diseases (CIBERehd). The translational and clinical research carried out over the years has focused on therapeutic innovation in complications of cirrhosis and treatment of primary and secondary liver tumors and very specifically on the development of the multidisciplinary liver cancer treatment program with innovations in the surgical treatment (expanded criteria for liver transplantation or resection in selected patients with portal hypertension), intraarterial techniques (chemoembolization and radioembolization) and systemic therapy (advanced therapies such as biological agents, immunotherapy and gene therapy). ACTIVITY As a teacher Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Medicine, University of Navarra. As researcher He has co-authored ten chapters in books of the specialty, has published more than 100 articles in national and international journals and has directed three doctoral theses.
