Biography

    Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Navarra (1989). Medical Specialist in Cardiology (MIR). Training center: Clínica Universidad de Navarra (1994).   Doctor in Medicine and Surgery by the University of Navarra, 1994, obtaining the qualification of Outstanding Cum Laude .   In 1996, he underwent specialization in Cardiac Electrophysiology in the Arrhythmia Unit of Hospital Clínic in Barcelona.   Accredited in Cardiac Stimulation and Cardiac Electrophysiology by the Spanish Society of Cardiology and by the European Society of Cardiology.   Director of the Department of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the University of Navarra Clinic since June 2009.   He has developed the Electrophysiology and Arrhythmias Unit of the Clinic. More than 140 invited presentations at conferences, including invited speeches to the Heart Rhythm Society, Europace and Cardiostim.   Principal investigator in more than 38 national and international projects, including several international multi-center trials and competitive calls as projects of the FIS (Health Research Fund).

Cardiac electrophysiological studies Ablation by radiofrequency of conventional substrates Ablation of complex arrhythmic substrates Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation (> 400 procedures as the first operator, including point-to-point radiofrequency experience, PVAC, cryoablation and nMarq) Non-fluoroscopic navigation (including NavX Velocity, Carto 3 and Noga systems) Implantation and monitoring of cardiac pacemakers Implantation and follow-up implantable automated defibrillators, Implantation and follow-up of cardiac resynchronization therapy devices (> 500 procedures for primoimplantation as the first operator) Percutaneous extraction of electrodes (radiofrequency, femoral approach, Evolution system) Percutaneous closing of the ear (Proctor system Watchman)
