Biography

    Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Navarra in 1994. Doctor of Science from the University of Navarra in 2000 with a work on the thermogenic effect of adipokine leptin in rodents. Since 2000, he has been working in the Metabolic Research Laboratory of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra. Research fellow at the Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Unit of the University of Liverpool (UK) Department of Medicine in 2001, studying the pathophysiology of adipokine resistin.     Research Areas He is a reviewer of more than 25 international publications, among them Am J Physiol, ATVB, Diabetes Care, Endocrinology and Int J Obes. He has participated in 20 national and regional projects, being Principal Investigator in 13 of them. He is a project evaluator of the National Evaluation and Prospective Agency (ANEP) since January 2007.  As a teacher On July 14, 2011, he was accredited as a university professor. He is currently Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology of the Teaching Unit of Endocrinology, teaching at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Navarra. He has conducted 2 doctoral theses and currently directs 2 others. As researcher He has published more than 100 papers in international indexed journals related to obesity and energy metabolism, having received more than 2,500 citations. He has presented more than 130 papers in national and international congresses including 13 oral presentations and 19 invited conferences. He has collaborated in the publication of 8 book chapters and is a co-author of a chapter of the prestigious Encyclopedia of Human Nutrition in the editions of 2005 and 2013. Since 2007 he participates as an Associate Researcher at the Center for Biomedical Research in Network of Obesity Pathophysiology and Nutrition (CIBERobn) of ISCIII in the group led by Dr. Gema Frühbeck.

Research Interest

 It compiles basic studies in experimental animals with clinical studies on obesity and its comorbidities.
