Research Areas His main areas of research are the early detection of lung cancer and pulmonary emphysema, as well as the cause-effect relationship between the two diseases. He is a principal investigator in the I-ELCAP study, an international multicenter study of early detection of lung cancer using low-dose chest X-ray CT, which began in 2000 and has, to date, 60,000 individuals.
