Biography
Graduate (1978) and Doctor (1994) in Medicine and Surgery by the University of Navarra (1978). Specialist in Neurosurgery by the University of Zaragoza after completing the residency in the Service of Neurosurgery of the Hospital of Navarre. He completed his training with stays in the Service of Neurosurgery of the Mayo Clinic and in the Service of Neurology and Neurosurgery of Emory University (the United States). Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Navarra Clinic. Research Areas He has directed several national and international projects on research in basal ganglia surgery in experimental animals. He participated as a European neurosurgeon in the International Cooperative Study on advanced Parkinson's disease treated with subthalamic nucleus or internal pale balloon stimulation. He is a counselor for the journal Neurosurgery. ACTIVITY As a teacher Professor contracted doctor of the University of Navarra. Professor of Deep Stimulation of the Active Expert Training Committee for Young Neurosurgeons . As researcher Author of over 100 publications in national and international journals, 30 book chapters and 200 presentations at conferences, lectures, conferences and seminars on the specialty.
