Biography
Licenciada (1994) and Doctor (2002) in Medicine and Surgery by the University of Navarra. Specialist in Digestive System (1998) at the University of Navarra Clinic. Postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard University) High-Risk Tumor Digestive Consultation from May 2005 to October 2007. Since 1999, medical specialist of the Department of Digestive Clinic University of Navarra. Responsible for the Unit of Prevention and Consultation of High Risk of Digestive Tumors of the Clinic University of Navarra, from January 2008 to the present. Research Areas He has participated in 11 research projects, basic and clinical, financed with public means on prevention and treatment of digestive tumors. ACTIVITY As a teacher Professor Contracted Doctor accredited by the ANECA since April 2009. He teaches in different medical degree courses at the University of Navarra (digestive system, genetics, problem-based learning). Professor of the Master of Biomedical Engineering. Research Interest
Prevention of tumors of the digestive system (mainly colon) in the general population and high-risk population. Hereditary colon cancer syndromes (polyposis and nonpolyposis). Hereditary gastric cancer syndromes. Prevention of pancreatic cancer in high-risk families. Population education on colon cancer prevention: healthy living habits, chemoprevention and early detection of neoplasias. Endoscopic management of Barrett's esophagus. Use of new endoscopic techniques (NBI, HD, etc.) in the diagnosis of tumors of the digestive tract in high risk patients. Use of other modalities other than conventional colonoscopy for the prevention of digestive tumors (colonoscopy with capsule and virtual colonoscopy).
