Biography
Licenciada (1993) and Extraordinary Prize of Doctorate (1998) by the University of Navarra. Specialist in Nephrology by the University of Navarra Clinic. Clinical Research Fellow (1999-2000) conducted at the Nephrology Research Institute Mario Negri (Bergamo, Italy) with a FIS (Carlos III Health Institute) grant. Specialist doctor of the Department of Nephrology of the Clinic University of Navarra. He is responsible for the Dialysis Unit. Research Areas The main research area of ​​the PhD and including the Clinical Research Fellow has been inflammation and oxidative stress in the patient with acute renal failure (in ICU of medical cause or by extracorporeal surgery, induced by intravenous contrast) or in hemodialysis chronicle. This activity has been carried out in two consecutive projects since 2003, as Principal Investigator and with two FIS scholarships, two from the Government Health Department of Navarre and one from the Research Funds of the University of Navarra. Both projects have also been non-commercial clinical trials and have allowed the completion of two doctoral theses with results presented in publications and congresses. However, in recent years and in line with the ambulatory clinical dedication to the diabetic patient, he has initiated a line of research in the search for new markers of diabetic nephropathy that may be future therapeutic targets. This line is also multidisciplinary, involving other hospital centers and the CIMA Cardiovascular Laboratory. He currently has a scholarship from the Research Funds of the University of Navarra and has two doctoral theses underway. ACTIVITY As a teacher Doctor accredited by the ANECA as Contracted Doctor (2004) and Professor Contracted in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Navarra. Teaching in Degree: teaches in the subject of Nephrology of 5th year of the Degree of Medicine and is Professor Responsible of Practical Clinic VI and Contracted Professor of the same course. He is also Clinical Tutor and Director of End-of-Grade jobs. Specialized teaching: organizer and teacher in continuing training courses in Nursing Nephrology (since 2010), accredited by the Continuing Training Commission of Navarre. As researcher Principal Investigator of 4 research projects and Researcher Collaborator in 3 other projects. More than 25 publications in relation to their scientific activity
