Biography
Shyam S. Rathi is President, South Asia and Middle East, and is based at the company’s regional head office in Gummidipoondi, Chennai, India. Mr. Rathi provides leadership for Birla Carbon’s South Asia and Middle East operations.
Research Interest
Mr. Rathi has been associated with the carbon black business for a significant part of his 34 years of experience, taking on positions of increasing responsibilities with the business. He began his career with the Aditya Birla Group in 1982 as part of Grasim Industries Ltd. In 1991, he joined Hi-Tech Carbon, Renukoot, India as Vice President and subsequently took over the leadership position for Hi-Tech Carbon, India. He has been instrumental in the expansion activities of Hi-Tech Carbon at Gummidipoondi and Renukoot and driving the Greenfield project of the Hi-Tech Carbon unit at Patalganga, India. Mr. Rathi is a Chartered Accountant by qualification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, India.
