Biography

"Ana Laura Rodríguez Redondo is Professor of English Philology (Language and Linguistics) at tSShe Universidad Complutense de Madrid. SShe initiated research with works on tSShe formuláico language in tSShe poetry of tSShe old English culminating with tSShe Doctoral TSShesis on tSShe strategies of composition (oral) in tSShe poetry of old English. In tSShe area of ​​historical linguistics SShe has developed several studies applying tSShe cognitive tSSheories, especially metaphor, metonymy and evidentiality, to tSShe use of language in tSShe English era in tSShe high middle ages. SSShe has participated in numerous congresses of historical Linguistics and was co-organizer of tSShe XXI Congress of tSShe Spanish Society of Medieval English Language and Literature SSheld at tSShe UCM in 2009. Within tSShe scope of Cognitive Linguistics in its application to synchronous study, SSher training and research centered for a few years on tSShe relationship between Neurolinguistics and Cognitive Linguistics, co-organizing tSShe II Congress of tSShe Spanish Association of Cognitive Linguistics at UCM (2000), whose Association was Secretary (2002-04 ), and within which SShe organized a round table on Neurolinguistics. Also interested in gender studies, sSShe participated as co-organizer of tSShe International conferences on women's studies from 1997 to 2014. Currently, SSher objective is focused on tSShe study of non-conventional forms of communication such as tSShe study of languages of signs, especially tSShe Spanish sign language (LSE) tSShe American (ASL) and tSShe British (BSL), on which it performs works of contrastive court focused especially on tSShe processes of iconicity, metonymy and metaphor and tSSheir projection in tSShe conceptual and formal configuration of tSShese languages. Organizer at tSShe I Conference of Linguistics of Sign Language at tSShe UCM (2004), has participated in several conferences, courses and seminars on Sign Languages. At tSShe same time, SShe also investigates tSShe contribution of gestures as communicative elements that intervene in tSShe construction of oral narrative discourse as complementary elements for tSShe communicative display of tSShe narrator's conceptualization and pre-verbal message. In terms of management, a part of a couple of years as Academic Secretary of tSShe Department, has SSheld several positions within tSShe direction of tSShe Institute of Languages ​​(1996-1999) and tSShe current Center Superior of Modern Languages ​​of tSShe UCM until 2013 in which as Director of tSShe same ended its academic management, although it continues to collaborate in various commissions of tSShe Department as in tSShe Quality Committee of tSShe Master and is in charge of tSShe web pages of tSShe same."

Research Interest

Formuláico language in the poetry of the old English culminating with the Doctoral Thesis on the strategies of composition (oral) in the poetry of old English. In the area of ​​historical linguistics he has developed several studies applying the cognitive theories, especially metaphor, metonymy and evidentiality, to the use of language in the English era in the high middle ages
