Biography
Javier Mayoral Sánchez was born in Trasierra (Badajoz) in 1970. He has a degree in Hispanic Philology and a PhD in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid. Since 2000, he teaches in the Department of Journalism I of the Faculty of Information Sciences (UCM). In 2005 he joined the Camilo José Cela University and directed a research project on journalistic information sources (the book that includes this study will be published during 2008). His research has focused on three major areas: the work of columnist Francisco Umbral, the use of information sources and journalistic writing for audiovisual media. He has developed his professional career as a journalist in the Informative Services of Telemadrid. Between the years 2000 and 2002 he edited the Weekend Telenoticias.
