Biography
Fernández Enguita (Zaragoza, 1951) is Professor of Sociology at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He has been a guest lecturer and researcher at the universities of Stanford, Berkeley and the London School of Economics, among others. He is the author of numerous books and studies on education, including the teaching profession and the school community , is public school public ? or Educate in uncertain times . In March 2017 he submitted to the Subcommittee on Education of the Congress of Deputies the document A reasonable compromise for a useful educational pact, in which he addresses some of the most conflicting problems in the history of Spanish education, such as the presence of religion at school, the comprehensiveness of education or the role of teachers, always treating conflicts without pleasing anyone and accompanying each diagnosis with a solution proposal.
