Biography
Degree in Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) - 1979. Doctor in Biology from the Autonomous University of Madrid (director Eva Barreno Rodríguez) - 1989. He is currently Professor of University, since 1992, in the Department of Plant Biology II of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). His research interest focuses on the morphology, taxonomy, ecology, biogeography, chemistry, nomenclature and molecular phylogeny of lichens (lichenized fungi). Participates in the Liquenology Research Group : taxonomy and biodiversity and in the Liquenológica Iberica Flora. He has published some 50 scientific articles, in different international and national journals. He has directed a doctoral thesis. He has also participated, and continues to participate, in numerous research projects, local, national and European, as well as in various collection campaigns.
Research Interest
His research interest focuses on the morphology, taxonomy, ecology, biogeography, chemistry, nomenclature and molecular phylogeny of lichens (lichenized fungi). Participates in the Liquenology Research Group : taxonomy and biodiversity and in the Liquenológica Iberica Flora.
