Biography
Nick Beim is a Partner at Venrock, the investment firm created by the Rockefeller family that helped pioneer the venture capital industry. Venrock has invested in companies that have helped shape today’s technology and healthcare industries, including Apple Computer, Intel, Gilead Pharmaceuticals, Illumina, AthenaHealth, Check Point, DoubleClick, AppNexus and CloudFlare. Over the past 10 years, Nick has invested in a number of leading software and internet companies including Dataminr, Intent Media, Care.com, Gilt Groupe, JBoss, Conductor and Quiq. Prior to Venrock, Nick was a General Partner at Matrix Partners and worked at McKinsey & Co. and in the High Technology Investment Banking Group at Goldman Sachs & Co. In 1993, Nick worked at the U.S. Agency for International Development on the task force providing foreign aid to the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, where he was in charge of programs promoting the development of independent media in these areas. Nick graduated from Stanford University and received an M.Phil. in International Relations from Oxford University, where he was a Marshall Scholar. Nick is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the Advisory Board of the Center on Global Energy Policy.
