Biography
Dr. Hans Verkerk is senior researcher in the Sustainability and Climate Change programme in Finland and in the Mediterranean regional office EFIMED in Spain. He holds a MSc degree in Forest and Nature Management from Wageningen University and obtained his PhD degree with distinction from the University of Eastern Finland on impacts and trade-offs of intensified biomass production and biodiversity protection concerning forests in Europe. He has over 10 years of experience in the fields of European forest resource management, woody biomass availability, forest ecosystem services and climate change mitigation.
