Biography
Yolanda Guillén obtained a degree in Biotechnology in 2009 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). At UAB she also completed her MSc in Advanced Genetics (2010) and her PhD in Genetics (2014) as a member of the genomics and evolutionary biology group. Her PhD studies focused on the use of bioinformatics — including genome assemblies and gene annotation algorithms — to analyse traits describing evolutionary genetics in Drosophila. She completed her training between 2011 and 2102 with the Computational Genomics Group at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS). In 2011 she also received a fellowship to collaborate with Andrew Clark at Cornell University (Ithaca, USA). At IrsiCaixa she is currently researching the genetic composition of microbial communities inhabiting the gut of HIV-infected patients.
