Biography
Alfonso López-Ibor holds a degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense, Madrid (1970) and at present he is the head of the Madrid office of the law firm Ventura Garcés & López-Ibor Abogados. Earlier he was the managing partner of Allen & Overy, Madrid (1991 -2001). He is a former member of the Spanish Diplomatic Service. He was deputy permanent representative of Spain to the OECD (1986 – 1990) and was also Spanish delegate at numerous meetings of the UNCTAD and GATT, and III UN conference on the Law on the Sea. His practice covers virtually all aspects of corporate law, finance and banking. He is also widely known for his expertise in litigation and for his extensive experience in the air transport industry. His litigation practice involves primarily international litigation and arbitration, with a particular focus on complex, high-stake disputes. He is the author of a number of articles in specialised publications. He has teached private international law at the ICADE – Universidad Pontificia de Comillas.
