Biography
With white collar crime and economic analysis as his main research focus, Professor Ortiz de Urbina has given talks and presentations in numerous institutions, both in Spain and abroad, including the universities of Harvard, Pace, York, Manchester, Mannheim, Modena, Milan, and Buenos Aires. He has written and edited six books and over 40 articles and book chapters published in Spanish, English, German, Italian, and Portuguese. From 2009 to 2011 he worked as special Senior Advisor to the Minister of Justice and participated in the drafting and the parliamentary passage of LO 5/2010, which modified over a quarter of the Spanish criminal code. He also represented Spain before the UN, the EU and the Council of Europe. After 2011 he has been designated National Expert in evaluation proceedings by the UN and the OECD and has advised in legislative proceedings in Argentina and Mexico. At the present time he works at Oliva-Ayala, one of the leading white collar crime law firms in Spain.
