Biography
Joaquin Hervada is Legal Director at DLA Piper working in the litigation & regulatory area in Madrid. He graduated from ICADE in Madrid in 2007 where he obtained his degree in law and diploma in business administration. Joaquin holds a post-graduate diploma in EC competition law from King’s College/University of London and he has attended the X Harvard Course in Law and Economics. Joaquin is the treasurer and a member of the board of directors of the Spanish competition association (Asociación Española para la Defensa de la Competencia). He has worked in London and Madrid and is fluent in Spanish, English and French. Although his professional practice covers all areas of EU and competition law, his expertise is mainly related to mergers, acquisitions and infringement procedures. In the field of merger control, he advises regularly in the structure of transactions (including acquisition structures, restructurings, divestments and strategic alliances) and in the preparation and filing of notifications before Spanish authorities and the European Commission. He has also participated in numerous infringement procedures for cartels or other anticompetitive practices, assisting clients during competition on-site investigations as well as with submissions and appeals before Spanish and EU courts and authorities.
