Biography
Professor Lejarraga received his Ph.D. in Business Economics and Quantitative Methods from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where he also served as a teaching assistant for several management courses. His research interests lie in the intersection between behavioral decision making, experiential learning and entrepreneurship. During his Ph.D. training he has been a visiting scholar to the Ross Business School at the University of Michigan. After his Ph.D. he continued his research at Universitat Pompeu Fabra as a postdoctoral fellow, and in 2011 he joined IE University as an assistant professor of Entrepreneurship. His work has been published in scientific outlets such as Memory and Cognition, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Small Business Economics, European Management Review, Proceedings of the Academy of Management, or R&D Management among others. He has also presented his research in international conferences such as the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, the Strategic Management Society’s Meeting, EGOS Conference, and the Subjective Probability, Utility and Decision Making Meeting. After completing his B.A. in economics, he worked at manufacturing company in Maryland (U.S.) related to the petroleum industry as an export analyst for Latin America. During his college years José has worked as a tennis professor at the Nike Tennis Camps and at the U.S. NAVY Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He was 3-time All-American in college tennis for singles and doubles (NCAA). In the last few years José has coached a number of startup teams mainly based in Latin-American markets.
