Biography
Lina Toro graduated with honours from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB) in Medellín, Colombia. She is currently a Ph.D candidate in ‘Theory and Practice in Architectural Projects’ at the School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. She began professional activity in 2003, co-founding dosmasunoarquitectos in Madrid, together with Ignacio Borrego and Néstor Montenegro. Among the firm’s recognized works are 102 dwellings in Carabanchel, Madrid, 67 dwellings in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid, 17 dwellings in Vallecas, Madrid, Central Library and Museum, Alcalá de Henares and Social Services Center in Mostoles’. Dosmasunoarquitectos has participated in several exhibitions, including: XI Architecture Biennale, Venice; IV Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura; Sao Paulo Biennale, 2003; Moscow Biennale, 2008 among others. The firm’s work has been published in a wide range of national and international architectural journals such as El Croquis, Domus, and A+U, among others. Lina Toro has been directly involved in publications as editor-in-chief –together with Ignacio Borrego and Néstor Montenegro- of Arquitectos magazine, issued by the National Architects Association and from 2004 to 2007, she co-directed and co-curated a series of monographic exhibitions at the Architects Association of Madrid (COAM). She has taught at several schools including the Poytechnic University of Madrid, School of Architecture, Roma TRE School of Architecture, Italy (2012), at Escola da Cidade, Sao Paulo, Brazil (2010) and at Universidad Católica de Lima, Perú (2011).
