Biography
Professor Maki Kawaguchi is a licensed US Architect and urban designer and holds a M.Arch. in Urban Design from Harvard´s Graduate School of Design (US) and a B.Arch. at University of Southern California (US). She has taught architecture and served as guest critic at the Boston Architectural Center, Columbia University, and Harvard’s GSD. Prior to joining the Fundación Metropóli, Maki worked as an architect and urban designer in New York City specializing in large scale urban design projects including the New York Financial District Streetscape with Rogers Marvel and the Coney Island Redevelopment with Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn. Maki is currently the Director of Urban Design at the Fundacion Metropoli in Madrid focusing on regional strategic urban design projects both in Spain and internationally.
