Biography
PhD in Management, University of Nebraska, Lincoln, USA; Master of Science in Marketing, University of Arizona, Tucson, USA; Bachelor of Science in Advertising, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA. With more than ten years full-time experience in marketing, working in large companies like Sears Roebuck, Life Fitness and Brunswick, and consulting with organizations including Unilever, Walgreens, Johnson & Johnson, and the U.S. National Institute of Corrections, Professor Tara Wernsing has experienced challenges and possibilities inside business and government institutions. She has worked for large companies with 300,000 employees, mid-range companies of 1000 internationally dispersed employees, and small firms of 12 people or less, including time as a solopreneur, consultant and life coach. Leadership development and adult learning are core themes in Tara’s current teaching and research activities. Her research examines models of ethical and authentic leadership, the effects of positivity in the workplace, and leader development based in mindful self-awareness practices. Other research projects investigate the role of implicit learning on developing cultural awareness, profiling leadership styles in Latin America, and applying Integral theory maps to education.
