Biography
ICREA since 2017 and director of the Life Science Department of the BSC-CNS and director of Spanish Bioinformatics Institute (INB-ISCIII), the Spanish node of ELIXIR. He has published more than 300 articles (Google Scholar h-index of 94). His group participates in international consortiums including GENCODE (NIH), BLUEPRINT/IHEC (epigenomics), RD-Connect/IRDiRC (rare diseases), CLL/ICGC/PCAWG (cancer genomics). He is president of the International Society for Computational Biology, elected member of the European Molecular Biology Organization, executive editor of the main bioinformatics journal (“Bioinformatics” OUP), founder of the BioCreative Text Mining challenge and Prof. Honoris Causa of the Danish Technical Univ.
Research Interest
He is a computational biologist interested in the analysis of large collection of genomic information with particular emphasis in the study of protein interaction networks applied to Precision Medicine. His group is particularly interested in the application of text mining technology in Biomedicine.
