Biography
Gabriel Díaz Hernández, a native of Mexico City, completed his studies in Civil Engineering at the Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM in 1999. Later in 2000, the Institute of Engineering of the II-UNAM granted him a scholarship for teaching and writing support of thesis, to finally be incorporated as a researcher in practice, teaching assistance, writing articles and completion of the Master's Degree in Hydraulic Engineering, the Postgraduate Studies Division of the Faculty of Engineering of the UNAM, all this within the Group of Coastal and Port Engineering of the II-UNAM led by Dr. Rodolfo Silva Casarín. During this stage he collaborated in the writing of various technical publications; consulting projects; and attendance to congresses, in subjects of vulnerability analysis of hurricanes; numerical modeling of the waves; and regeneration of beaches, and also performing academic and teaching support tasks. In 2001 the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico CONACYT, granted him a scholarship to do the doctorate abroad in the Oceanographic and Coastal Engineering group of the University of Cantabria UC, obtaining a Master's Degree in Integrated Coastal Management and Ports, and doing his doctoral research on wave numerical modeling, advanced studies of port agitation, port resonance, wave series analysis, and implementation of new numerical tools in the current state of the art.
